Genelia Deshmukh was born on Wednesday, 5 August 1987 in Mumbai, Maharashtra. His father, Neil D’Souza is a senior executive at Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) and his mother, Janet D’Souza is a former managing director of Pharma Multinational Corporation. He also has a brother named Nigel D’Souza, who works in the Bombay Stock Exchange.
After completing his schooling, he graduated in Management Studies from St. Andrew’s College, Bandra, Mumbai.

Genelia D’Souza first met Riteish Deshmukh during the test shoot of her debut film ‘Tujhe Meri Kasam’. Genelia had ignored him at first because she felt that being the chief minister’s son, he could be a spoiled child. However, during the shooting of the film, the two became very close to each other and Genelia started dating Ritesh since then.
Genelia D’Souza dated Ritesh for more than eight years and on February 3, 2012, Genelia married Ritesh Deshmukh. Their first son Riaan was born on November 25, 2014. Their second son Rahyl was born on June 1, 2016.

Genelia D’Souza started her career as a model at the age of 15. He also did an ad for Parker Penn with Amitabh Bachchan, which caught people’s attention.
Genelia D’Souza started her Bollywood career in the year 2003 with the film “Tujhe Meri Kasam” with Ritesh Deshmukh. In the same year, he ventured into the Tamil film industry with the film “Boys” and ventured into the Telugu film industry with the film “Satyam”.
He did two Telugu films, “Happy” and “Ram” in early 2006 and then “Bommarilu”, which was a super hit. In the year 2008, he returned to Bollywood after 5 years with the film “Mere Baap Pehle Aap”, which failed miserably at the box office. After this, he filmed the film “Jaane Tu… She played the role of Aditi Mahanta in “Ya Jaane Na”, which became very popular.
After that he acted in many films like Life Partner, Force, Tere Naal Love Ho Gaya, Jai Ho, Force 2, Lai Bhaari, Mauli and It’s My Life.

Controversy
In 2011, during the shooting of the film Force, a wedding scene between her and John Abraham sparked a controversy. Some claimed that the wedding ceremonies and rituals held were so authentic that they would actually have been husband and wife in real life.
Instead of the junior artist, the real priest was called for the scene in the film. Soon after the news of Genelia and Riteish Deshmukh’s marriage spread, the priest, who got Genelia married to John Abraham on the sets of the film “Force”, claimed that Genelia and John are already married and could not have been married to Riteish Deshmukh. Pujari also created a ruckus at producer Vipul Amrutlal Shah’s office to lodge a complaint against Genelia.
